Congratulations to our Editor in Chief, Patsy Pelton, on being named an Association for Women in Communications San Antonio Professional Chapter (AWCSA) 2013 Headliner. The AWCSA has been honoring community leaders who have made exceptional contributions in professional, volunteer and civic arenas for more than 60 years.

Patsy Pelton will receive the Maggie Cousins Headliner Award, the highest honor bestowed on a San Antonio chapter member of AWC. The award is named for San Antonio native and journalism pioneer Maggie Cousins, who died in 1996 at the age of 91. A former managing editor of Good Housekeeping and McCall'smagazines and a beloved 44-year member of AWC, Maggie forged an editorial career at a time when women from genteel families learned household arts instead of earning college degrees. She received the National Headliner Award in 1946, the second year they were awarded.

She will be honored at our 33rd Annual Awards Banquet and Silent Auction on Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Westin Riverwalk San Antonio Hotel.
